About the Role:

As a vital member of the Retail Management Team, the Head of Retail will provide guidance, support, and specialized expertise to Retail Operations Managers, Area Support Managers, Shop Managers, and Shop Management Teams. This key role involves assuming management authority and accountability for the ongoing successful operations of Vinnies Retail across the State, leading a dynamic team to maintain and grow vital retail operations. The incumbent will support members and volunteers to effectively respond to the needs of the most disadvantaged in our communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, manage, and motivate a team to achieve objectives, including recruitment, development, and retention of skilled and motivated individuals.
  • Develop clear KPIs for all team members and implement performance management processes.
  • Ensure effective communication through regular team and individual meetings.
  • Engage with staff and volunteers to identify and resolve hazards and incidents, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
  • Develop work plans to manage resources effectively and achieve strategic objectives, ensuring ethical and compliant activity.
  • Oversee functional responsibility across various areas including merchandising, financial management, OH&S, security, customer service, and sales/marketing.
  • Foster a strong customer service culture in shops and ensure adequate resources for Retail Operations Managers.
  • Monitor and report on budget performance, acting to address variances and prepare business cases for approval.
  • Liaise with stakeholders to foster a united approach to services and take a leadership role in projects and events.

 About You

  • Accreditation or suitable experience in Business/Management.
  • Current Victorian motor vehicle license.
  • Strong time management and project management skills.
  • Ability to build rapport, influence others, and resolve conflicts.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Innovative and practical problem-solving skills.
  • Effective judgment and decision-making ability.
  • Competencies needed for the role: Business planning, financial performance, business analysis, business knowledge, project management, team development, sector knowledge.
  • Significant Retail Management experience.
  • Evidence of outstanding capacity to develop a high-performance culture.
  • Successful leadership and team development experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail management, stock control, sales, and merchandising.
