Our organisation provides many services and programs, including soup vans, education programs, home visitation programs and VincentCare Victoria (VCV), which assist some of Victoria’s most vulnerable communities, such as people experiencing homelessness, the housing crisis and family violence, and the elderly.

Little bit about the role

The Senior Manager Audit, Risk, & Insurance supports the General Counsel/EGM Risk & Compliance and the work of the Group Audit, Risk and Finance Committee. The position plays a key advisory and managerial role in relation to enterprise risk management.

The role oversees the internal audit program and ensures an appropriate response to any gaps or issues identified. 

The role also has responsibility for the organisation’s suite of insurances, ensuring that coverage is adequate and up to date. This includes renewals, liaison with advisers, brokers and providers and management of claims and related issues as they arise.

The position supervises the Internal Auditor and will also work very closely with the Company Secretary, Assistant Company Secretary, and Senior Manager Compliance & Policy.

Your responsibilities

  • Contribute to the organisational culture by demonstrating empathy with the mission and ethos of the Society, promoting reflective practice, participating in team activities, and contributing to a culture of continuous improvement
  • Ensure safety in the workplace by taking reasonable care for your own safety and that of others, identifying and reporting hazards within 24 hours, and managing risks in line with policy and procedures
  • Provide people leadership and management by supervising and managing the Internal Auditor, acting as a role model, fostering a mission-focused culture, and leading continuous improvement practices
  • Lead the organisation’s risk management by promoting a culture of open risk communication, managing the Risk Management Framework, maintaining Risk Registers, and coordinating risk reporting to all key stakeholders including the Senior Leadership Team, Board, and relevant committees
  • Oversee insurance administration by implementing and maintaining appropriate insurance coverage and acting as a liaison for claims and claims management
  • Manage internal audit activities by developing audit plans, conducting and overseeing audits and investigations, maintaining audit records, and monitoring follow-up actions to ensure they are implemented

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, audit, risk, or a related field, with CPA, CA, or CIA certification (or working towards) highly regarded
  • A good working knowledge of the Global Internal Audit Standards and the Australian Auditing Standards
  • A good working knowledge of Australian Standard ISO 31000:2018 Risk Management
  • A good working knowledge of insurance, insurable risk and claims management
  • A good working knowledge of the legislative and regulatory compliance requirements applicable to SVDPV
  • Demonstrated ability and skill in providing audit and review services across diverse, complex and service-based organisations
  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry and/or working within a complex non-profit organization
  • Exceptional communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills, including the ability to present audit and risk insights clearly to executive and governance bodies.
